Ashford Borough Museum is pleased to announce that it is re-opening to visitors on Friday 17th July.
The Museum is protecting visitors and its volunteers using a one-way system and zoning the Museum. Visitors will not be permitted to enter a zone if other visitors are in that zone. This will ensure that visitors are kept 2m apart.
Visitors will be required to use sanitising gel and to give contact details to support NHS Test and Trace on entry to the Museum.
Some parts of the Museum will not be accessible to visitors because sufficient cleaning is not practical. The museum will be cleaned daily. However, visitors are asked not to touch exhibits or display cabinets to further reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.
With these and other measures in place the Museum has acquired the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good to Go’ mark showing that it follows government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, has a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
Christine Drury, Chair of the Trustees commented that “The Ashford Borough Museum team of volunteers have been working flat out to follow guidance to the letter in getting ready to reopen Ashford’s treasure trove of local history at the Museum in the Churchyard. It will be a bit different, but that is necessary to be safe for our visitors and for our volunteer stewards. We look forward to welcoming you back or as a first time visitor”
The Museum is initially opening on Friday and Saturday from 11am to 2pm with a last entry time of 1.30pm. These times may change depending on the number of volunteers available. Full details will be given on the Museum’s website: ashfordmuseum.org.uk and its Facebook page: @ashfordmuseum.
